How many of you have had your parents yell at you for the way you dress,the way you actt,the walk you walk for crying out loud?! And all this even though you're a decent person? Have you at one point in your life had your parents try to change who you are and your beliefs just because it doesn't suit them? I have, and I think everyone of you, at least at one point in your life has had this happen. There are only two reasons for this case of hitler syndrome in your control freak parents.

One reason is that these parents are trying to fix their own problems using you. They think that, for example, as a child they had bad experiences with friendships and have trust issues so they interrogate all your friends, may ban you from seeing anyone that even looks remotely unconventional to them forgetting that appearances may be deceiving. Another example, they may have had issues about body weight and appearance and so constantly nag you and berate you about your appearance even though you're happy with it. Methinks that parents should deal with their own problems before trying to find the solutions in us, their kids, and use us as test subjects.

The other reason is that they want to bring you up to be exactly like them and their friends ignoring your own tastes. For example, you live in a strict christian family and community and they impose their standards and religion upon you. You're fine with it until you don't really believe what they believe in anymore so look into other religions. Then they call you "satan's child!", "spawn of the devil" and tell you that you're gonna to go hell if you follow your beliefs. Parents should support whatever decsions their kids make and encourage them all along. If they don't like a kid's chosen desicion, they should explain why and their thoughts not go into hitler mode.

In conclusion, parents should just accept their kids for who they are and be repect choices made by their kids and the individuality displayed by them. Life would be so much more easier if parents just minded their own business for the most part, and if they don't like decisions, talk it out. But then again, don't get your hopes up because this level of understanding is just way too hard for them to achieve. Therefore, we must make sure to do one thing at all costs: DON'T GROW UP TO TURN INTO YOUR PARENTS!!
